Africa's Home
for Tomorrow's
Storytellers.
TalkComms is Africa's first hub for undergraduates in communications. We exist to connect students with industry leaders, equip them with practical skills, and amplify their voices to shape how Africa's stories are told.
Built from a belief that African voices belong at the centre.
Storytelling is the heartbeat of Africa's future.
TalkComms was born from a clear observation: students studying communications across Nigerian and African universities were graduating without practical footing. The classroom gave them theory. The industry demanded experience. Nothing existed to bridge that gap.
In November 2025, TalkComms hosted its maiden summit at The Zone, Gbagada, Lagos. Over 200 students from more than 20 universities gathered for a full day of insight, mentorship, fireside chats, and direct access to industry leaders in PR, media, and digital storytelling.
That summit proved the demand was real. The community that formed around it confirmed that something much larger was possible. TalkComms is now building the infrastructure for what comes next — programmes, content, and a network that puts African communication students on the map before they even graduate.
Three words. One direction.
A continent that tells its own story, on its own terms.
TalkComms sees a future where young African communicators are not waiting for permission to lead. Where a student in Enugu has access to the same quality of professional development as one in London. Where the next generation graduates ready, not scrambling.
We are building the platform, the programmes, and the community that makes that possible. Every summit, every masterclass, every piece of content is one step closer to a continent that leads its own communication narrative.
We are empowering the next generation of communication leaders across the continent, shaping how our stories are told.

Africa's Home for Tomorrow's Storytellers
Africa's media gap is real. And it starts in the classroom.
Communication students across Africa are leaving university without the practical experience the industry demands. The networks do not exist. The platforms are absent. The gap between graduation and readiness keeps widening.
TalkComms was built as a direct response to this. Not as a supplement to the university system, but as the thing that exists alongside it, giving students what their curriculum cannot.

Underrepresentation
Six ways we show up for African communicators.
TalkComms Summit
Our annual flagship event. In 2025 we hosted 200+ students from 20+ universities at The Zone, Gbagada, Lagos — bringing them face to face with practitioners, editors, and brand strategists who shape Africa's media landscape.
Founders Circle
A selective 2-day intensive masterclass for 30 hand-picked final-year and penultimate students. No academic theory. Industry-led sessions, live briefs, and critiques from working professionals.
Inside Industry
Long-form writing on communication in Africa — strategy, media, PR, digital storytelling. Written by practitioners for students who want to understand how the industry actually works.
Mentor Moments
Notes, opinions, and perspectives from industry leaders. Short, direct, and built for the next generation. No fluff. Real insights from people who are building things.
Student Spotlight
Stories from students doing remarkable things. We believe the next generation of African communicators deserves visibility before they graduate, not after.
Opportunities
Internships, jobs, and grants curated for communication students across Africa. One place to find what you need to get started.
