Legit.ng’s Head of Entertainment Desk, Ismaili Yinus, Speaks on Storytelling and the Future of Digital Media at TalkComms Summit 2025
Legit.ng’s Head of Entertainment Desk, Ismaili Yinus, represented the Editor-in-Chief, Rahaman Abiola, at the inaugural TalkComms Summit, where he joined leading voices in media, tech and branding to discuss “The Future of Communication: Trends, Tech & Transformation.”
Speaking during the Panel Session, Yinus delved into the evolving role of storytelling in shaping public consciousness and driving real-world impact. Drawing from his experience reporting human-angle stories that resonate with millions of Nigerians, he emphasised that storytelling is most powerful when it reflects the lived realities of everyday people.
Yinus highlighted a recent Legit.ng feature about a young boy who pushed his brother to school daily on an old wheelchair—an emotional story that rallied public support and resulted in the child receiving a modern electronic wheelchair. He described the moment as “the true measure of impact,” noting that journalism remains relevant when it amplifies voices often overlooked.
Beyond storytelling, the panel explored how technology and AI are reshaping media practice, content creation and the language of human connection. Contributors noted that while AI tools now assist with research, writing and speed, authenticity and original perspective remain distinctly human strengths.
Yinus added that the credibility of digital media depends on a balance between innovation and editorial integrity. He emphasised that modern journalists must embrace digital tools without compromising accuracy, context or empathy.
The panel also featured branding expert Francisca, startup founder Ololade Damilola, and AI advocate Israel, who each discussed how the next generation of communicators must blend creativity, data, technology and cultural awareness to stay relevant.
Hosted in Lagos, the TalkComms Summit brought together students, young professionals, creators and senior industry leaders for a full day of conversations on communication, media transformation, emerging technologies and Africa’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Legit.ng continues to support platforms that nurture the next generation of storytellers and media leaders, reinforcing its commitment to impactful journalism and innovation in Nigeria’s digital space.
